TENTATIVE PROGRAM: CODEMAVEN 1.0
GICT 2021 will go completely virtual. The campaign consists of 1 virtual launch session + 4 live short coding workshops + 1 game coding challenge. All activities will be conducted using the Zoom online meeting platform.
CodeMaven 1.0 Launch Day: 22 April 2021 (Thursday) – ITU’s GICT Day 2021
Time: 8.00 – 8.20 p.m.
Listen to female ICT role models speak about their careers in ICT and be inspired by female ICT role models. Play a Scratch game and “see inside” to take a peek at how the game is created from Scratch blocks. We will introduce the coding challenge and the live workshops (i.e. coding camps).

CodeMaven 1.0 Coding Camps (Live Workshops): 26 April – 29 April 2021 (Monday – Thursday)
Each live workshop will run for 20 minutes (8.00 – 8.20 p.m.) on Zoom. The game in the coding challenge will be divided into four components. Each live workshop will cover a programming construct required to create a game.

• Day 2: CodeMaven Camp 1.2
• Day 3: CodeMaven Camp 1.3
• Day 4: CodeMaven Camp 1.4

CodeMaven 1.0 Game Jam (Game Coding Challenge): 30 April - 2 May 2021 (Friday – Sunday)
On Day 5 (Friday), the coding challenge and the judging criteria will be revealed at 8.00 – 8.20 p.m. The CodeMaven 1.0 Game Jam will begin on Day 6 (Saturday). Participants will team up with a parent to work on creating a game for the coding challenge throughout Saturday and Sunday. To be considered for rewards and prizes, the game must be submitted between 8.00 p.m. – 10.00 p.m. to a Scratch classroom. Six Scratch classrooms will be created for the coding challenge submission, one for each age group. Games submitted will be evaluated and scored by our university student mentors/volunteers (CodeSysters) and the organizers, and the top three winners from each age group will be awarded with prizes.
